A downloadable game
A tabletop roleplaying game for 2-9 players (3-5 is best)
Yesterday was the 31st of May, 2015. You were in Mongkok until late. The MTR was already shut, so after midnight you caught a red minibus headed to Aberdeen. Around one o’clock in the morning, the minibus entered the Western Tunnel beneath Victoria Harbour. There were no other vehicles headed south. You saw a policeman on a motorbike heading north, and a large lorry after him.
When the minibus emerged from the tunnel, everyone had disappeared. Even in the middle of the night, normally there would be cars on the road,
workers going about their jobs, and people in the many 7Elevens of Hong Kong. But it wasn’t like usual. Hong Kong was empty.
You talked with the other people on the minibus and decided to continue to your final destination in Aberdeen, go home and meet at the square in the centre of Aberdeen in the morning if things weren’t back to normal.
It’s 9 o’clock in the morning on the 1st of June. Where is everyone?
HollowHK was originally written for Game Chef 2015 under the title "HK0ca". That year's theme was "A Different Audience", and HK0ca was my first game written in Portuguese. The contest's ingredients that year were dragonfly, abandon and stillness.
You will find no end-game and answers to the mystery, within these pages. The secret of Hollow Hong Kong is yours to reveal or, better yet, leave unresolved. The characters' responses to their situation and to each other are the important things.
